RCB defeated CSK by two runs in match No. 52 of IPL 2025.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) hosted Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in match No. 52 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The clash took place at RCB’s home ground, M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, on Friday, May 3. CSK had a gigantic target of 214 runs to chase in the match. Ravindra Jadeja and Ayush Mhatre stormed stunning half-centuries. However, RCB clinched a victory by just two runs in the thrilling clash.

CSK could only reach 211/5 till the final ball. Earlier, CSK skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and chose to bowl first. RCB openers Jacob Bethel and Virat Kohli stormed half-centuries and also etched an opening stand of unbeaten 87 runs. Later, RCB lost a few middle-order batters cheaply.

However, all-rounder Romario Shepherd smacked a wonderful knock of unbeaten 53 runs off 14 balls to power the scoreboard to 213/5 in the first innings. CSK pacer Matheesha Pathirana grabbed a three-wicket haul.

IPL 2025: Updated points table

IPL 2025 updated points table after match 52, RCB vs CSK

After match No. 52 of IPL 2025, RCB have moved to the top spot in the updated points table. They have 16 points and Net Run Rate (NRR) of +0.482. On the other hand, CSK languish at bottom of the table with four points and NRR of -1.117. CSK are already eliminated from the playoffs race.

Mumbai Indians (MI) grab the second spot with 14 points. Gujarat Titans (GT) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) steal the third and fourth places respectively with an equal number of points. Delhi Capitals (DC) take the fifth position with 12 points.

IPL 2025: Most runs (Orange Cap)

Virat Kohli, who scored 62 runs in the game, has now moved to top of the IPL 2025 Orange Cap leaderboard with 505 runs. GT’s Sai Sudharsan is now ranked second with one less run than Kohli.

MI’s Suryakumar Yadav, GT’s Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill are slotted third, fourth and fifth with 475, 470 and 465 runs respectively in the list of top five highest run-getters this season.

IPL 2025: Most wickets (Purple Cap)

CSK spinner Noor Ahmad picked one wicket in the encounter and has jumped one step to the third spot in Purple Cap leaderboard with 15 wickets. RCB pacer Josh Hazlewood, who did not play in the match, takes the second spot with 18 scalps. RCB spinner Krunal Pandya, who picked one wicket, now grabs the fifth spot with 14 scalps.

Prasidh Krishna enjoys the peak position with 19 scalps. MI pacer Trent Boult now takes the fourth spot with 16 wickets.
